Clemmons Educational State Forest is a favorite, and mountain bikers love the trails at Legend Park. There are also three golf courses in Clayton, and plenty of canoeing and kayaking along the scenic Neuse River.

Clayton is also expanding its greenways! A new trail in progress will extend the Sam’s Branch Greenway, giving walkers, runners, and bikers a safe and scenic pathway close to Downtown Clayton. It will connect to the Clayton River Walk as part of the East Coast Greenway.
