There are so many ways to get outside

Clayton is a little town with some big parks! If you enjoy spending time outside, you’ll find plenty of ways to do just that here in Clayton. Clemmons Educational State Forest is a favorite, and mountain bikers love the trails at Legend Park. There are also three golf courses in Clayton, and plenty of canoeing and kayaking along the scenic Neuse River.
Clayton is also expanding its greenways! A new trail in progress will extend the Sam’s Branch Greenway, giving walkers, runners, and bikers a safe and scenic pathway close to Downtown Clayton. It will connect to the Clayton River Walk as part of the East Coast Greenway.

Downtown Clayton is a quaint-yet-bustling historic district filled with local businesses, restaurants, and stores. Clayton is a great little town, but it’s also surrounded by other great towns (and cities). Just a few minutes away, you’ll find the Carolina Premium Outlets in Smithfield and White Oak Crossing in Garner. And the nearly unlimited possibilities of Raleigh are just beyond that.
Clayton is also conveniently located between I-40 and I-95, so really, there’s not much that’s out of reach! Head south or east to reach the white-sand shores of Carolina beaches in an hour or two, or turn west and head for the hills—the Blue Ridge Mountains are just a few hours from the Triangle area.
